2,169 Protests in 20 Countries: No Kings Day Goes Global

Moments ago, I confirmed with a lead organizer of the No Kings Day movement that today’s protests have reached a staggering milestone: 2,169 events across 20 countries. Organizers estimate over 3.5 million people are expected to turn out in what is now one of the largest internationally coordinated protest actions in recent history.

The No Kings Day demonstrations are aimed directly at the Trump Administration’s increasingly authoritarian actions. Protesters are marching under a unifying banner: resistance to autocracy, erosion of democratic institutions, and political violence.

The size and scope of the movement signal deepening global concern over U.S. political instability and its ripple effects abroad. While full country-by-country data is still emerging, demonstrations have been confirmed in multiple major cities and capitals.

Organizers say today’s date was chosen to mark a symbolic rejection of monarchy, imperialism, and dictatorship — a message aimed squarely at Trump’s expanding executive power.

Minnesota Horror: Elected Officials Targeted in Political Attack

Even as the world protests in defense of democracy, a tragic reminder of the stakes has struck the U.S. heartland.

According to Minnesota law enforcement, two elected officials and their spouses were attacked in their homes overnight:

  • State Rep. Melissa Hortman (D) and her husband were killed.
  • State Sen. John Hoffman (D) and his wife were injured and remain hospitalized.
  • The suspect is at large, reportedly dressed as a police officer at the time of the attacks.
  • A manifesto was found inside a fake police vehicle abandoned near one of the homes.
  • Details of the manifesto have not yet been released.

I’ll be following every development. More to come soon.
