I just got off the phone with Senator Tammy Duckworth, a U.S. Senator from Illinois and a decorated Army combat veteran. She issued a stark warning about the alarming deployment of military troops—both for Trump’s $60 million taxpayer-funded military parade this weekend and for use against American civilians in Los Angeles.

Senator Duckworth expressed deep concern about the national security consequences of these deployments. While the U.S. is actively evacuating embassies in Iraq, thousands of Marines have been pulled from their global posts and stationed here at home. As of today, there are more U.S. troops in Los Angeles (4,800) than in Iraq (2,500) or Syria (1,500), according to ABC News. This shift not only undermines America’s military readiness overseas—it sends a dangerous message about the politicization of our armed forces.
