Thanedar's action follows comments last week by Rep. Al Green of Texas, who also pledged to pursue impeachment measures, and statements of support for Trump’s impeachment from Senator Jon Ossoff of Georgia.

The articles, seven in total, outline a broad range of alleged misconduct:

Republicans currently hold the majority in the House of Representatives and have shown no inclination to support such proceedings. Impeachment would require significant bipartisan backing to move forward, which, under current political conditions, appears highly unlikely.

    Nevertheless, Thanedar’s move adds to the chorus of Democratic lawmakers openly advocating for Trump's accountability. With Senator Ossoff’s recent endorsement of impeachment proceedings, a growing segment of the Democratic Party seems intent on keeping the issue alive, regardless of immediate prospects for success.
